Monday Morning Sentimonies: CFL Draft Coverage 2013

I'll start this morning with a brief comment on the Rider Flo-Rida minicamp (thank you anonymous commenter). There not much analysis than can be put into this since its a glorified orientation session and we have a few brief clips of people doing basic drills (don't lie, you are like me and tried to breakdown that film because you are so starved for football). It was great to see (or at least read about seeing) Robb Bagg and Jock Sanders out there tearing it up (umm poor choice of words) let's go with running with great structural integrity. This was just a tease to get us football deprived diehards amped up for the season. It's too early to start getting excited about rookies or even cursing the career of some poor DL prospect by officially endorsing him (all in due time). It was a great taste of football and hopefully a great starting point for piecing together an explosive offense and rock solid D for the upcoming season.

With less than a month to go until the CFL Draft, its time to kick off my 2013 Draft coverage here on the blog. I always joke about being the leading draft expert not named Duane Forde out there but seriously do Google “CFL draft coverage”, I rank only behind TSN and Wikipedia on the entire interweb according to the world’s leading search engine. You could consider that a sad statement on the state of CFL draft coverage, or you could consider it me being awesome… I will opt for the latter.

As for what you can expect in terms of coverage, there will of course be my team by team analysis looking at the current status and potential strategy of each team (we being tomorrow with BC). I will also be attempting a full 6 round mock draft for the second year in a row. To say last year’s mock draft was reasonably accurate would be a blatant lie… but I’m not above that so reasonably accurate it is.

It’s not all good news however, due to CFL’s continue refusal to schedule around my needs, there will be no Annual Live Draft Day Blogging this year. I know it’s sad, I’ll pause to let you collect your emotions… I have commitments on the 6th that I can’t get out of (who drafts on a Monday?) so I will be unable to live blog for the first time in 5 years. I’ll try and get a live blog going for some other occasion but on draft day I’ll be too tied up to even watch the draft. Honestly, why couldn’t this have happened all those year’s that the draft was not even covered in any media format?

I will however be bringing back the Annual Rider Prophet Draft Contest. I’ll have details a bit later on how to enter and what you can win.

I'm just glad there's something football related to discuss... especially since I'm still in mourning for the Wichita St Shockers fell short of winning the NCAA tournament.
